WEEK 3 - PEN TOOL EXERCISE (BEST COMPOSITION)
Description:
To create this collage in Photoshop, I utilised the Pen and Lasso tools to precisely select and adjust
each element. I began by using the Pen tool to draw smooth, accurate paths around items such as plant leaves and circular shapes, allowing me to cut them cleanly from the background. For more complicated options, such as parts of the subway picture, I used the Lasso tool, which allowed me to freely draw around these areas. After choosing all of the elements, I organised them into layers based on visual hierarchy, placing background images, such as the subway scene, in the bottom layers and bringing out more obvious features, such as the circles and leaves, by moving their respective layers upward.
WEEK 4 (ADJUSTMENT LAYERS & FILTERS )
Description:
To enhance the collage, I used Photoshop’s Levels adjustment to balance the overall brightness and contrast, bringing more detail into both the darker and lighter areas. By adjusting the black, mid-tone, and white sliders, I ensured the subway scene and the circular textures had more depth, making the visual elements stand out. Then, using Curves, I refined the shadow and highlights for a smoother transition between the different light levels. This adjustment helped create a dynamic contrast, drawing attention to key areas like the train and the textured circles. Lastly, I applied Hue/Saturated to boost the vibrancy of specific colors. The red tones in the circular elements and the train were intensified, while I desaturated some of the background areas to create a focal point and give the image a more cohesive, balanced look. This combination of adjustments made the overall image more visually engaging and harmonious.
