Tutorial & Practical (18.11.2025)

# progress work shown in Task 3

After completing the colouring of my 3-panel comic, I moved on to the final steps, which helped me understand how small adjustments can greatly improve the overall artwork. Creating the opacity mask taught me how to control light, shadow, and transparency in a more precise way. Adding texture helped me realise how important surface details are in making a comic feel more lively and less flat. Finally, using the appearance panel to create editable text styles showed me how to keep my typography consistent while also saving time in the editing process. Through these final steps, I learned how technical tools can enhance creativity and make the final comic look more polished and professional.

Week 10

Lecture (26.11.2025)

Mr. Fitri briefed us about Task 4 : Final Project, where he explained the project requirements, expected outcomes, and the creative direction we should follow. He also guided us on how to plan our ideas early, organize our workflow, and apply the techniques we learned from previous tasks into our final illustration.

We learned how to use Adobe After Effects to create basic animations. Mr. Fitri guided us through essential tools, keyframes, and simple motion techniques, which helped us understand how to bring our illustrations to life through movement.

Feedbacks

Week 8

The story (short narrative) is good. The 3-panel comic breakdown looks good. For Panel 2, the character in the middle can be zoomed in a bit so the shot feels closer. After making the adjustment, everything looks great. Can proceed with the line art.

Figure 5.1.1 : Improvement

Week 9

The line art and colouring look great. However, double-check the line spacing and make it a bit closer. After making the adjustment, everything looks good now. Can proceed with adding the text and applying textures.

Week 10

The text and texture were applied well. The work is ready for submission.

Reflections

What I enjoyed the most in Task 3 : Sequential Art was the process of creating my own 3-panel comic from scratch using Adobe Illustrator. I liked exploring different techniques such as masking textures, adjusting line weight, and applying editable text styles for the speech bubbles and the title of the comic. These tools made my comic look cleaner and more polished. I also enjoyed designing the character and planning how each panel transitions smoothly from one action to the next.

In terms of improvement, I think I can work more on adding more detailed backgrounds to make each panel feel richer and move visually engaging. I could also experiment more with shading and lighting to add depth to the characters. Lastly, I can refine the panel composition by playing more with perspective and camera angles to make the storytelling more dynamic.
